My office’s heating method broke down last year in December, at the worst possible time. It was one of the very coldest winters on record in our immediate area. We really burnt out the central heating method for the whole entire office. We hadn’t even been in the office for very long, however we were aware it was an old Heating, Ventilation plus A/C method that came with the building, and since we’re a small start up company with minimal funds, the suggested costs to fix the old heating method were out of our league. So, as a temporary solution during the end of the winter, the management handed out portable electric oil heating systems to each of our cubicles. First, I loved this method. I was always so cold anyway. I loved having me very own personal electric heating system at my feet, knowing I could adjust to any temperature I wanted. But, admittedly, I was pretty confused by their decision. I was aware how high-priced these oil heating systems were to use. In fact, our local news did an entire segment about energy savings for the Winter season heaters plus summer season a/c systems. They explained how central heating plus cooling units were much better for your budget than portable ones, especially for larger spaces and households. So, here my office was trying to heat a big area with small portable heaters. When their energy statement came in, the office director was shocked by the crazy numbers. They had nearly tripled! They finally realized they were going to have to call the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C provider in to fix the problem as soon as possible.
