My husband and I were heading out for a long vacation with the kids. We knew how long it was going to take us to get to our destination, and I was prepared for the kids to get cranky. What I wasn’t prepared for was for the air conditioning in our van, to quit working. We were halfway to our destination, and I was desperately trying to get someone from AAA to hook me up with a garage that was close to us, so we could get the AC fixed. My youngest was really upset with it being so hot in the car that she let out a yelp that startled my husband. The boys were now screaming because they were hot and wanted the AC on, and my husband was frustrated. When they baby yelled, he jerked the wheel, and we went off the road. That was bad enough, but we ended up in a ditch that was filled with mud. Now the kids were scared and they still wanted the air conditioning. I called AAA again, and I told them now we not only didn’t have air conditioning, but we needed someone to pull us from the ditch. Two hours later, a tow truck showed up to pull us out of the ditch. He then escorted us to a garage that was less than five minutes away. We were able to get our air conditioning fixed and get back on the road in less than an hour. I don’t ever want to take a long distance trip again, unless we have the AC inspected ahead of time.
