Living where the boiler is

I’m rather fond of sites with lots of windows plus a great deal of sunlight, although I will admit that residing in our little basement apartment entirely has its benefits. For instance, I’m never wanting for cooling equipment in the Summer! All I have to do is keep our dehumidifier going to combat the excess moisture in the air, plus I am more comfortable than I have ever been before, even in the worst of the intense heat. It’s so nice not to have to worry about moving fans around all the time or always having to change your clothes because I’m perspiring profusely. Then in the Winter season, the basement apartment holds heat so well that our oil heating equipment hardly ever has to cycle. Because there is only a single window plus the sliding door to the outside, there is little to no heat loss to agonize about, but most of the time I don’t even bother turning our temperature control up to 60–it reads there with only having our oil heating equipment set at 56. While I do miss the sunshine plus the battle for awesome air quality can be a struggle at times, it saves so much money on our utility bill. The lack of heat loss means I operate the oil heating equipment less, so I’m not paying for oil deliveries as often as I normally would. The cool air means I’m not running a lot of fans to help remain comfortable. I even save money on our water bill, because I don’t feel the need to take several sizzling baths to stay moderate in the Winter season. Living in a basement apartment isn’t for everyone I must say, however you can save a lot of money if you’re willing to give it a try.
